Mud In The Club Vol. 1
“Mud In The Club Vol. 1”

Review By: Jesse James
Hick-hop has exploded in the past couple years, and a big part of the progression of the scene has been due to the mud bog culture rallying behind the music. Colt Ford and Average Joe’s were first to the market with their “Mud Digger” compilation series and have delivered some classic tracks we’ve all come to know and love. Now they are back and they’ve chopped up and re-arranged those classic tracks for “Mud In The Club Vol. 1”.
The album opens with one of the most underrated Colt Ford tracks in “Back” featuring Jake Owen. The ballad is a great introspective track with Jake delivering the knockout punch with the hook. Here the remix delivers all the wallop of the original with a beat that would get all the southern belles onto the dance floor. Relative newcomers Cypress Spring jump into the action with a great remix of Rehab’s monster hit “Bartender Song”, as they drop some sticky southern flow on the track to give it even more hick-hop flavor. Twang & Round chop up The Lacs classic “Kickin’ Up Mud” and they blast through it like a shotgun blast when unleashed on the beat. Twang & Round deliver a fresh take on a classic track and make the track their own. The album ends with the firepower of an Average Joes posse cut “This Is Our Song” featuring heavyweights The Lacs, Demun Jones, Danny Boone, and Bubba Sparxxx.
“Mud In The Club Vol. 1” goes down like a cold beer on a hot day, and will undoubtedly provide the soundtrack for countless tailgate parties. If you are a hick-hop aficionado then “Mud In The Club Vol. 1” is the right type of down and dirty that you’ve come to expect from Average Joes.
